You'll Find Spring Charm And
The Exotic in Axicon World
Imports' Two Featured Lines. |
For
more than 20 years, Axicon World Imports
has searched for distinctive
lines recognized for high perceived
value and low price points. This is certainly evident this season, as the
company presents the Bombay Collection and Flower Frames.
First
introduced in December of 2001, The Bombay
Collection is a beautiful line of accessories for the dresser,
desk and
den, whose wholesale prices range from $3 to
$10.50.
The line incorporates exotic images of the East, featuring
elephants, tigers, leopards and palm leaves combined
in pieces that are designed to be both decorative and
functional. Products include votive candle holders,
napkin/card holder, picture frames, business card holder,
tray/pencil holder, pencil holder and multi-note clip, and a
pair of
striking elephant bookends. The 11 different polyresin
pieces
feature animal skin patterns and antique bronze-colored accents.
Barbara
Howell, Axicon's U.S. sales manager, explains that the Bombay Collection
comes on the heels of the popular animal print motif, but brings the look
to the next level. The company is very excited about the line; as a matter
of
fact,
Bombay has gotten the strongest response out of all
the new
lines, with brisk reordering taking place.
"The
artistic detail work in these pieces is usually only
found
at a much higher price point," Howell says.
Axicon's
other featured new line - Flower Frames - is perfect for spring
gift-giving, she feels. Flower Frames are natural
flowers pressed between panes of clear leaded glass, offering a dramatic
stained glass effect. The frames are completely transparent, allowing
sunlight to shine through.
"It's a
very bright, sunny look perfect for spring," says
Howell. "Because they use real
flowers, we see these frames appealing
especially to nature lovers." Traditional
spring colors like cornflower blue,
white, pink and yellow adorn the
frames. The initial line consists of four patterns, with three sizes offered
in each. Again low price points are
an important part of the package,
ranging from $6 to $8 wholesale.
"Retailers and sales reps have been saying that the quality of these frames
is sUperior to other flower frames on the market," Howell says. Attention to
detail is evident, from the
thicker
glass used to the process of pressing the flowers.
"Even
the packaging is better," Howell points out. Axicon's
frames
come completely imbedded in foam, with a clear
plastic viewing window in
front. "They display particularly
|

well, even
in their packaging" Howell feels. "Retailers like to
be able to
display the frames in the package, which minimizes
shelf breakage."
The
initial Flower Frames line consists of five patterns, with three sizes offered
in each. Again low price points are
part of
the package - ranging from $6 to $8 wholesale.
Axicon's
bestselling Silhouette line expands this year with wind chimes, which also
feature the effects of a sun catcher.
These
high-polished metal-finished wind chimes are available
in 19 different patterns, ranging from whimsical insects
to
patriotic. They are priced at $3.50 and shipping begins
this
month.
